What Really is Prayer?

Prayer is honest, respectful communication with God. Prayer is better than a phone call. It is not channeling the spirits or anything of the psychic world for that is not what prayer is about. You don’t have to be superspiritual to pray. You don’t have to have a ministry to pray.

God hears the prayers of the average person, just like you and me. He hears the cries of His children. God is all-knowing, and all-seeing. He knows our hurts, our fears, and our needs. Prayer is not about begging or bargaining. It is about coming to a powerful God who is to be feared in reverance and communicating with Him whether in the Spirit or in everyday tongues. It is about knowing that He is the great “I AM” and believing that He is who He says He is. It is about creation coming before a Holy God and humbling himself and opening their souls to Him.

If you have never received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and you believe that He dies for you and rose from the dead and that you know that you are a sinner who needs Him, please pray this prayer or say something similar in your own words. This decision is the most important decision you will ever make. “Lord Jesus Christ, I am a sinner in need of a Savior. I believe that you died on the cross for me and rose on the third day. Forgive me of all my sins. I ask that my name be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Thank you for saving me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Congratulations! Publicly confess your new life in Christ. Tell someone about your salvation. John 3 says that those who are born of water and of spirit shall enter the kingdom of God. There are a few verses in the Bible about water baptism. Water baptism is public confession of your newfound life in Christ Jesus. It is also for the remission of sins. This does not mean that water baptism saves a person, Jesus does. We are saved by Jesus through faith. I also suggest that you read the Book of John and fellowship with a group of TRUE believers.

There is another baptism I will write to you about called the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is one who is the Spirit of Truth. He guides us and is to be revered. We cannot be forgiven if we blaspheme the Holy Spirit which is outright rejection by word and/or deed. Acts 2 refers to Pentecost in which men from various nationalities receive the Holy Spirit. There are people who have spiritual gifts such as speaking in other tongues, interpreting tongues, and prophecy. Spiritual gifts cannot be taught. To receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, pray this prayer or one in your own words.
" Lord Jesus, I thank you for saving me. I ask for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Show me how to use my spiritual and natural gifts to glorify you, Heavenly Father. In Jesus’ name, amen."
