What do Wiccans Believe?

Throughout centuries, we have read many stories about the antagonistic relationship between Christianity and Wicca. This is ironic even though both religions have a history of persecution and misunderstanding. That is why pages such as this one are needed. This page is not about promoting any homophobia against Wiccans.Wicca is a religion which has roots in the ancient traditions of Gaelic culture. However much of what is Wicca today can be traced to only a few decades.

So do Wiccans believe? It is best answered by simply writing the basics of Wicca. Yes, Wicca is a religion, and no it is not witchcraft. They are not Satanists nor do they believe in Satan as Christians do. They do not believe in inherent good and evil, but that people are responsible for their own actions. Many Wiccans practice magic, but it is the magic that uses psychic energy from which surround all living things. Some Wiccans are monotheistic, while others are polytheistic. They do worship Gods and Goddesses. They do not have sacred scriptural books as Christians, Jews, and Muslims do, yet some use a Book of Shadows, which contain invocations, rituals, and charms. Wicca is more of a “flexible” religion such as Hinduism and Buddhism where many believers have different beliefs. Some believe in reincarnation while others do not.

However, there are many common beliefs. Wiccans have a strong belief in nature and believe that nature is part of the duality of the masculine and the feminine. Also Wiccans are also more tolerant as far as the feminine nature and the path to which one takes. Sin, redemption, sacrifice, mass, Heaven, and Hell are not a part of Wiccan beliefs.

While I respect Wicca and other religious beliefs, the Bible does say that we are to worship the Creator for He is a Jealous God. (Exo. 3:5) We are not to worship the creation according to Romans 1. God is also not male or female for He is a Spirit. There is no karma or reincarnation in the Bible, nor are there many paths, for Jesus Christ is the only Path to God. (John 14:6) Satan is real and he does exist. Read Revelation 12-16 and Isaiah 14. I agree that we are responsible for our actions, there is judgement, Heaven, and Hell . (Matthew 8, and Revelation 20-21, John 14:1-3, Galatians 4:26, Luke 16, Psalm 9:17, Mark 9:43, Matthew 11:23, Proverbs 5, 9)
