The Consequences of Immorality

I watched a video by Aaron Hall entitled, “Why Can’t I see My Baby?” or something like that. Too often when people divorce or simply break up, children get caught up in the middle and end up being the victims. I recommend that everybody see this video. It is a sad, but beautiful video of what could happen to people who just, in simplest of terms, “need to quit”. (Think Romeo and Juliet). In this video, the wife has committed adultery and the couple divorce. But the wife would not let the ex-husband see the child, but she is living with another man. Towards the end of the video, the child is accidently killed. The grieving father, played by Aaron Hall, sings about the pain of losing his child. It is a classic example of the pain of sin. There is nothing good about sin. It is cruel, deceptive, and leads in death when full-grown. In Matthew 24, Jesus said, “Because iniquity abounds, the love of many seem to wax cold.” Love is something that most of us take for granted. It is a shame that gossip, feuds, insults, and unforgiveness are more commonplace than good news and love. Or is it?

We have virtually lost our minds in America and worldwide. I am not trying to judge here, because I know I will will be judged one day. But “Woe to those who call good evil and evil good.” (Isaiah 5:20-21) That is exactly what is going on in this nation. If I sound homophobic, that is fine with me, as long as the Truth is told. Yes, I do believe that homosexuality is wrong. I don’t believe that two people who aren’t married to each other should sleep with one another, for that is fornication…or adultery if either one is married. I think pornography and profanity is wrong. I think blashpheming God is wrong, especially blaspheming the Holy Spirit, for one will not be forgiven of that sin. It is not cool to disrespect others, to disrespect one’s elders, or lie, cheat, and steal, even something that one may think that person won’t miss like a pencil. A little white lie is wrong. God doesn’t see color in people the way we do, so why should He see color in lies? The truth is, it is not what I believe, it is what God says in His Word, the Bible.

People are important. Their needs are important. Their health and happiness are important. Family is important. But most of all, righteousness, holiness, and the value of one’s soul is most important.

That has seem to be lost in this world. Respect for other people seemed to have all but diminished. I’m 30 years old and even I have noticed that. I remember when it was even legal to spank your kids..I didn’t like it, but I turned out okay. My classmates and myself even read Bible stories, prayed before class, and said the Pledge of Allegiance. I am a Black-American, and my ancestors helped to build this country. Most black people’s ancestors as you know did not immigrate like every one else, and they still aren’t getting the respect they deserve. This country would not be as great as it is, despite all of the problems, without her African descended people and that is a fact. I have as much right to pray in school and Pledge Allegiance to the US Flag because too many black people and people of all races died for this flag. I know I am only talking about America, but when prayer was taken out of school and now people are simply trying to take God out, I believe that we are slowly losing our freedom.

God is a God of Freedom and His Word said, “If My people turn from their ways and seek My face, then I will heal their land.” (2Chron. 7:14) I know that this is mainly talks about Christians and Jews, but I know that America and the rest of the world could apply this scripture to ALL of our lives. Americans are a blessed people simply because of godly people who risked their lives for others. Have you noticed that during the Civil Rights movement and during the Revolutionary War and the time of the Constitutional signing that God was the One given the glory, not man. They understood that without God, we are nothing and that nothing is impossible. I strongly believe that. People in other parts of the world are giving their lives to Jesus Christ in record numbers. They are dying for Jesus. They are literal modern day martyrs who love the Lord and desire to witness to others no matter the cost. We as Americans have lost that desire. Values matter. Character matters.

The Bible does talk about moral leadership, and we need it, Democrat, Republican, AND independent. This man grew in a generation in which prayer was taken out the schools, the Bible couldn’t be read in schools, etc. This was during the 1960’s, not when this man was President. Instead of dissing this man every chance we get, we ought to be praying for him, for that is also biblical. God will judge him as well as ALL of us for our deeds, good and bad. This man is not the cause of immorality in this nation. This nation has been guilty of immorality for years. His acts are/were immoral, yes, but we should be praying for him, for he is the leader of this country and those who refuse to pray for him and show hatred towards him and not just his actions will also have to answer for that, even if you call yourself a Christian. (Rev 22:12 Numbers 16 Proverbs 28 Romans 13:3-7 Romans 12:9-21 Romans 14 1-12 Romans 15)

FATHER, WHAT CAN I DO?We can all do a little something. I have to admit that I am cynical. It seems like that most people are either pretending or just mean-spirited. Hopefully, I am wrong. I know what we can all, and must do to be saved, is to admit that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. In other words, “Am I part of the problem or part of the solution?” Also, believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and that God rose Him on the third day with ALL of your heart. The Holy Spirit is the One who convicts us of our sins and He is the Spirit of Truth. If you believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and know that you are not saved or just aren’t sure, please pray this prayer, or in your own words: “Lord Jesus Christ, I’m a sinner in need of a Savior. Forgive me of all my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for me and rose on the third day. I ask that my name be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
